When to Choose 20W-50
High-mileage engines: As engines accumulate kilometers, bearing clearances increase and oil consumption rises. A 20W-50 maintains adequate film thickness where lighter oils would allow metal-to-metal contact, extending the useful life of older engines significantly.
Heavy-load applications: Two-up riding, cargo-laden delivery bikes, and riders who regularly ride at or near maximum payload place extreme loads on engine bearings and the wet clutch. The thicker 20W-50 film handles this without breaking down.
Extreme ambient temperatures: In regions where ambient temperatures routinely exceed 40°C, a 20W-50 provides an additional margin of protection that lighter grades cannot match — particularly in air-cooled engines without the benefit of a liquid cooling system.
OEM specification: Many motorcycle manufacturers — particularly for models sold in South and Southeast Asian markets — specify 20W-50 as the factory-fill grade. ECO MATIC 20W-50 SN/4T meets or exceeds these requirements.

Despite being the heaviest grade in the range, ECO MATIC 20W-50 SN/4T doesn’t compromise on additive quality. Full API SN certification means advanced oxidation stability, deposit control, and catalytic converter compatibility — same as the lighter grades in the ECO MATIC line.

All 4-stroke motorcycles 125cc and above where the manufacturer specifies 20W-50 viscosity. Particularly well-suited for older and high-mileage motorcycles in tropical service.
